Felon escapes through work furlough program; returns on his own

Police have an Oahu prisoner with a lengthy rap sheet back in custody after he escaped from the Oahu Community Correctional Center on Friday afternoon.
Why did Bronson Gouveiva escape in the first place, when he had less than a year to serve before being released? I glad he turned himself in, but all this flap and a possible extended term in OCCC could have been avoided if he thought clearly in the first place. Perhaps he returned because he found life too difficult on the "outside." Believe me, Mr. Gouveira, life on the outside is no "cake walk" either. We are "imprisoned" by our mortgages, increasing consumer debt, and risky health and social behaviors.
