Elderly man survives night lost in Big Island lava field

Park rangers and a helicopter pilot rescued a 76-year-old man early Friday morning who got lost near Pu’u Huluhulu in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park the previous day.

Some obvious lessons here.  Never go hiking by yourself.  Tell others where you’re going.  Be prepared to endure the elements.  This person was lucky he was found before nightfall.  Aloha, Russ.
