I can’t fault Honolulu Mayor Caldwell for trying to address these contentious issues. Despite his good intentions, the light rail project and the homeless issue will mar his term in office. The light rail project is over budget and totally inadequate for meeting Honolulu’s mass transit problem. I don’t know if the homeless issue has a favorable solution. Which ever way that issue goes, more transient shelters will be needed. That means more taxpayer dollars diverted from other social programs. I don’t envy Mayor Caldwell. Aloha, Russ.
