NORTH KONA, Hawaii – A brush fire off Hulikoa Drive in Kona loomed behind buildings on Saturday afternoon, as fire crews worked feverishly to keep the flames at bay. No structures or properties were threatened at the time …

Russell Roberts‘s insight:

According to reporter Chelsea Jensen, the runaway brush fire has consumed 400 acres and forced the evacuation of 300 residents, as t raced mauka through vacant land Saturday near the Kohanaiki Business Park in North Kona.  Hulikoa Drive was closed for several hours while fire crews worked to contain the blaze.  The fire came within 50 yards of a construction site below Kakahiaka Street.  ‘Looks as if this will be a busy time for Hawaii fire crews.
