Something to be proud of…In the end, though, high medical costs and funeral expenses will catch up with all of us.  Try to maintain the your quality of life as best you can.  Eat right, exercise, quit smoking, and learn to worry less about things you can’t control.  Life is a terminal disease…we won’t get out of this alive.  So, live life fully and have no regrets.  Aloha, Russ.

  1. Well, the high medical costs will certainly get you, but at least you don’t have to worry about paying the funeral expenses….(well, okay, if you pre-pay, you do)…

    1. So true. Janice and I are leaving our mortal remains to the John A. Burns School of Medicine. When my father died in 2005, he willed his body to the medical school. When the term of use was over, the medical school invited all of the families of the deceased to a special memorial service where a canoe took the cremated remains out to sea. A Hawaiian priest (kahuna) blessed the proceedings. My late father in law had a similar voyage to the far horizon last year, courtesy of the Puna Canoe Club…very impressive, touching, and wonderful to behold. Our funeral expenses in both cases was zero. Janice and I won’t play the costly funeral game. Russ.
