Proposal calls for urban rest stops for homeless


The Honolulu City Council is looking at a proposal to establish places where the homeless and others can take showers, use toilets and wash their clothes.

Russell Roberts‘s insight:

At least this is a temporary solution to the homeless problem.  A permanent answer to this issue will require some difficult decisions by the state Legislature.  Sending the homeless somewhere else will be expensive and counterproductive.  They’re on an island with no place to go.  This social headache won’t be ending soon.  Aloha, Russ.
