Hawaiian Electric to close Honolulu Power Plant

HONOLULU (AP) – Hawaiian Electric Companies says it plans to close its Honolulu Power Plant and shut down units on other islands as part of a 5-year-plan to use more renewable energy.
We’re making the transition to renewable energy. The shift will be expensive, but hopefully, the move will reduce our dependence on imported oil. Aloha, Russ.
