The 2014 Hawaii Senate primary launched an early polling war Tuesday, as allies of both Democratic Rep. Colleen Hanabusa and Sen.

The silly season begins. In the end, only money counts. Moral character, creativity, and performance are secondary concerns. A political cartoon in the Sunday, 30 June 2013 "Hawaii Tribune-Herald" said it best, when the cartoonist quoted Mark Twain: "Patriotism is supporting your country all the time…and your government when it deserves it." Considering the low ranking of Congress by voters, I rest my case. Aloha, Russ.
