An update on the pro-geothermal article written by OHA trustee Carmen Hulu Lindsay. Lindsay admits to the obvious: geothermal energy is vital to Hawaii’s energy independence and seff-sufficiency. I totally agree with the honorable Trustee and also with Mr. Roberts. For the record I am also part-Hawaiian.
Thanks for your input, Paul. I believe Ms. Lindsey is “spot on” as the British would say. Now, if only our state Legislature would get serious about alternative energy. What legislators have done so far is a good beginning, but alternate energy sources and food self sufficiency should be the hot legislative topics next session. Any surplus funds generated by geothermal resources could be used to support local farmers, finance various Native Hawaiian programs, and provide relief to homeowners. Our future should not be defined by the politics of oil. Russ
