This bill should provide some financial relief for Hawaii’s honey producers.  Beginning today (18 June 2013), small beekeepers can produce up to 500 gallons of honey a year and sell it to retail establishments as well as directly to consumers without having to get a Department of Health permit or use a certified kitchen.  According to the governor, the purpose of the law is to reduce the "burreaucratic red tape that has hampered backyard beekeeping and small honey producers."  Aloha, Russ.
