Hawaii lawmakers to examine $5.7B special funds
HONOLULU (AP) — Nearly one-fourth of the Hawaii Legislature’s $23.8 billion budget proposal is made up of special funds that lawmakers are planning to scrutinize in the coming months.
It’s about time someone looked into this sneaky way of keeping tax dollars from doing what they’re supposed to do. A little public scrutiny and openess are needed here. I’ll cut the state Legislature "a little slack" if it tightens up the spending of tax dollars. Aloha, Russ.
