Civilian defense employees in Hawaii to start getting furlough notices this week
Pacific Business News (Honolulu) (blog)
Meanwhile, U.S. Pacific Command officials told PBN that the DOD has 19,000 civilian employees in Hawaii.

Russell Roberts‘s insight:

The furlough of federal employees in Hawaii is the direct result of sequestration.  19,000 employees of the U.S. Pacific Command could be affected by the inability of the federal government to pay its bills.  Congress has been deadlocked for months over restructuring the nation’s debt…so far, not much progress.  Your tax dollars hard at work!  Aloha, Russ.
