It appears geothermal energy will be a major energy player on the U. S. mainland. In a related Hawaii story, "Hawaii Tribune-Herald" reporter Tom Callis says " efforts to restore Hawaii County’s permitting authority over geothermal projects have failed to gain enough support in the state Legislature.’ Hawaii County Planning Director Bobby Jean Leithead-Todd says "I think it’s a dead issue this session."
