An optimistic appraisal of geothermal and its potential for reducing our dependancy on petroleum-based fuels and nuclear energy for power production.  Already, Iceland and Great Britain are exploring ways to boost geothermal energy output.  British officials believe geothermal could produce up to 20% of that country’s electricity in the coming years.  The U.S. Senate is considering bills to encourage geothermal exploration, primarily in the west and in Hawaii.  The Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) is actively searching for companies to help it find and develop geothermal resources on Hawaii Island.  Aloha, Russ
