As of 1100 hours, 14 August 2009, the National Hurricane Center has upgraded Guillermo to a Category 2 hurricane with sustained maximum winds of 100 mph. The storm is about 1,275 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California moveing west at near 15 mph. It is still too early to determine what effect, if any, this storm will have on the Big Island. Projections from the National Hurricane Center have the storm passing northeast of the Big Island by next Tuesday.
