A tropical storm watch for the Big Island has been cancelled but remains in effect for Maui county and Oahu. The American Red Cross has opened several evacuation centers in Maui County, including the Hana School Gym, the War Memorial Gym in Wailuku, the Molokai High School Gym, and the Lanai High School Gym. Felicia is moving west at 10 mph. Frequent showers and higher than normal surf are expected through today.

The Department of Water Supply announces a water shut-off for the entire Honomu area, from the Honomu Road to the new Akaka Falls Road on Wednesday, August 19th, at 9L00 pm to Thursday, August 20th, at 1:00 am. Crews will perform a waterline connection for the Honomu Productin Well and the .3 (point 3) million gallon Reservoir Construction Project.

Hamakua Councilman Dominic Yagong has rescheduled the Friday, August 14th community meeting at the Pa’auilo Gym to Thursday, August 13th. The new meeting day will allow the community to participate in the 50th Anniversary Statehood celebration at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium on August 14th. Thursday’s meeting at the Pa’auilo Gym will begin at 7:00 pm.

The final master plan presentation for the future of Kailua Park, otherwise known as the “Old Airport Park”, will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesdady, August 25th, at the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel Ekahi Ballroom. The preferred master plan developed in May has been refined and this will be a public opportunity to review the Final Master Plan that will be subject to a forthcoming Environmental Assessment.
